In the technology theme the focus is on energy, drive train, and navigation systems as well as environmental technology. Handy-on presentations and research results are the aim. Research areas such as bionics connect technical and biological sciences.
On board the ship NOVARA-explorer™ a "zero emission" energy system on the basis of solar power, wind power, energy exchange, fuel cell technology, and hydrogen engines is implemented.
Nature
In the nature theme, predominantly life sciences and ecological themes in the global context are dealt with.
Special areas of Life Sciences including bio-chemistry, bio-informatics, medicine, pharmacy, food science and nutrition, environment management and environmental technology are explored.
Society
The society theme is centered around the globalisation with its economic, cultural, and social implications.
Cultural diversity, exchange, and cooperation are to be demonstrated. The intangible cultural heritage will be dealt with at all stops of the circumnavigation.
